Naturally Dyed Yarn
Margit Hofmann is the botanical dyer of Alte Künste. In 2011 she created the label to re-introduce high quality & lightfast botanically dyed yarn to modern textile crafts in Germany. For that reason Margit dyes solely with lightfast botanical and natural material, skipping most things from the kitchen or fruit-garden. Her current focus in on modern plastic-free sockyarns that are biodegradable as well as eco-friendly.
She also does custom dyes for museums & is open to collaborations. Alte Künste yarn tends to be more on the bright side. The yarn bases range from DK to laceweight and from merino & BFL to pure silk & organic cotton.
Margit & her husband live in a 300 years old farmhouse in the Palatinate Forest, Germany. Besides living & dyeing there, they share the place with cats, chickens, bees and other non-human persons.
10% off all yarns (except charity dyes) plus a free organic-cotton project bag with each order
