Local Yarn, Patterns
Marina is a yarn dyer and knitwear designer based in Bath, UK. She dyes single-source, natural fibre yarns by hand in rich, subtle colours. She sources wool and alpaca from local farms in Somerset, and works with UK mills to create unique yarns. Her current yarn ranges are spun from fibre sourced within 25 miles of her home studio.
Mendip (4-Ply and DK) is slightly rustic, woollen-spun yarn dyed in rich semi-solid colours with lovely heathery options – great for garments and accessories, especially for stranded colourwork.
Caia Baby Alpaca is a very light fingering weight, dyed in jewel tones that complement the subtle sheen of the soft yarn. Caia brings a touch of luxury, ideal for pieces that require drape and elegance rather than structure.
While most of Marina's colours are synthetically dyed using environmentally considerate methods, she also has a small range of tiny-batch naturally dyed colours using home-grown, foraged, and saved plant dyes.
Marina's knitwear designs focus on fun, unusual colourwork and interesting texture. The patterns are clearly written, and garments are size-inclusive.
